Since June 2006 owner/operator Luke Duong has been providing Wellingtonians with good, honest Vietnamese cuisine. The menu exists as a fusion of South East Asian cultures, is authentic and crammed with style. Presenting sumptuous metropolitan-esque Vietnamese flavours, Restaurant 88 is one of Wellington’s best-kept secrets and serves Drunken Salt & Pepper Baby Chicken with Lotus Leaf Wrapped Rice and Saigon Crispy Rice Crepe with Prawn Toasties. But it’s the killer Pho Bo, or Vietnamese beef noodle soup made up of sliced rump beef sitting on a bed of rice noodles poured over with a special slow cooked beef broth. It’s served with Ox tail meatballs, tomato, onions, sprouts & fresh herbs, accompanied by chilli & hoisin sauce and is the one that packs the travellers in.
