A Doubtful Sound Overnight Cruise begins with a scenic cruise across the beautiful Lake Manapouri. Once there, a coach driver will collect you for your ride over the Wilmot Pass to meet your vessel the Tutoko II, your home for the next day.
Welcomed aboard by friendly crew with a glass of bubbly, the mood is set. Then you’re off to discover the many jewels Doubtful Sound has to offer.
With tawaki (Fiordland crested penguins), kekeno (NZ fur seals) and bottle-nose dolphins to amuse, all surrounded by breathtaking vistas, the scenery and wildlife will undoubtedly leave you in complete awe.
You’ll be fishing for your dinner while the crew members retrieve lobster for your plate. The food is plentiful with a local flavour and it’s bound to be the freshest seafood you will ever experience.
Then there’s kayaking for the adventurous or scuba diving* for the experienced. Or you can simply sit back with a book and relax with a nice wine. You could even organise a private charter. Visit the website to find out more. But whatever you choose, Fiordland guarantees you will have a wonderful experience and leave with memories that last a lifetime.
* Special note: Scuba divers – while there is the opportunity for experienced divers to dive, you have to have all your own gear as the overnight cruise is not a dive charter. There are dive tanks and weight belts available for use. Anyone wishing to dive must notify Fiordland prior to booking and confirmation. Failure to do so means no dive!
